Cleveland Veterinary Clinic is a state of the art full-service companion animal hospital in South Elgin, IL located just northwest of the intersection of McLean Boulevard and Spring Street. The professional, knowledgeable and friendly team at Cleveland Veterinary Clinic aims to treat your pet with gentleness and loving compassion by focusing on the human-animal bond. We provide the latest in medical, dental, surgical techniques, and veterinary services in South Elgin and the surrounding communities. The purpose of the Cleveland Veterinary Clinic is to preserve the joy, unconditional love and companionship between our clients and their pets by offering life-stage healthcare and client education with excellence in care, compassion, integrity and open communication.

Meet the Team!

  • Jennifer Maloney, DVM
    Veterinarian

    As a child, Dr. Jennifer Maloney knew she wanted to become a veterinarian. She has always had a special bond with and love for all animals. She attended the University of Illinois where she earned both her undergraduate degree and her doctorate in veterinary medicine. Dr. Maloney feels fortunate to have become the owner of the Cleveland Veterinary Clinic in March of 2012. What she finds most rewarding about her career are the close relationships she forms with her clients and patients. As well as general practice, Dr. Maloney has additional interests in abdominal ultrasound, laser, orthopedic and advanced soft tissue surgery. 

    Dr. Maloney lives in St. Charles with her 3 dogs (Sophie, Peanut & Pierre). In her spare time she enjoys spending time outdoors, reading and traveling.

  • Kara Robbins, DVM
    Veterinarian

    Dr. Robbins joined our team in 2016 after working in the Wheaton area for 5 years. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a focus in zoology from Western Illinois University followed by a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Illinois in 2011.  After completing an internship at the Brookfield Zoo Dr. Robbins learned that she enjoys working with pocket pets and other exotic species in her daily practice.

     Dr. Robbins lives  with her husband and three children.  They share their home with their dog, two cats, two turtles, and a bearded dragon. In her spare time she enjoys running, gardening, crocheting, and crafting soap.

  • Margaret Dougherty, DVM
    Veterinarian

    Dr. Margaret Dougherty joins the CVC family in April 2017 and we can't be more excited. We are convinced that she will add another layer of success to our amazing hospital.

    Dr. Margaret has worked in the veterinary field for a long time spending the last 21 years at a small animal practice. We are lucky she reached out to us and wanted to join our team. She has great experience in both soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries.

    Dr. Margaret’s demeanor is kind and she values client and patient care whole heartedly. She forms bonds with her peers and loves to collaborate regarding cases. We feel she will adjust very easily into our culture.

    Dr. Margaret is a mom to a teenage boy and has 2 dogs, 1 cat, and lizards at home. She has a strong interest in surgery, internal medicine, and developing long-term relationships with her clients and patients.

  • Maegan Masterton, DVM
    Veterinarian

    Dr. Masterton grew up in the Chicago suburb of Carol Stream. She graduated with her bachelor's degree in Animal Science from Iowa State University and received her doctorate degree at University of Illinois. From a young age she always felt the calling to become a veterinarian due to her love of all creatures and her desire to help them. Dr. Masterton has a special interest in surgery, primary care, and emergency medicine. She can perform Echocardiograms in clinic. In her free time she is an avid traveler and she loves to explore with her dog Bates.

    Hospital Greeter

    Hi!

     My name is Kramer and you have most likely seen or heard me at the hospital. I love to greet everyone and can be quite a singer... As cute as I am, I do not really like to be handled by people I do not know so I may get feisty at times!

  • Cindy
    Accounting

    Cindy Kay brought her bookkeeping expertise to the Cleveland Veterinary Clinic in March of 2005. Although only at the clinic on a part-time basis, Cindy has made herself indispensable by tackling all areas of the clinic’s finances with efficiency and accuracy.

    Cindy makes her home in Elgin with her husband, Curt, and their daughter, Taylor. Her dogs Cubbie, Koda, a Ragdoll named Buddy, a hermit crab named Spots, a bunny named Snowball, and an aquarium of freshwater fish round out their family.

    Cindy enjoys traveling with her family to destinations in both Wisconsin and Florida, where they fish, swim and spend time outdoors. In addition, she supports Taylor in her aspirations as an ice skater, both in individual and team shows and competitions.

  • Amy D.
    Hospital Manager

    Amy joined our tech team here at CVC as head technician in 2017. She started in the veterinary field 27 years ago as kennel, worked her way up and never looked back! Amy's favorite part of her job is watching patients grow and helping sick patients be happy and healthy. Her passion for surgery and knack for organization made her the perfect fit for our team.

    In her free time, Amy spends time with her children, her husband and their pets, Opie, Jax, Tig, And Clyde and the crazy Guinea Pig Milo. She plays a big part in her kids extra curricular activities and loves be able to cheer them on from the sidelines of their favorite sports. In her downtime you can find Amy relaxing with her favorite snack (chips and salsa) and watching bad reality tv.

  • Erin
    Veterinary Technician

    Erin became a part of the Cleveland Veterinary Clinic nursing team in June of 2007. She remembers that her strong connection with animals began in early childhood. It is that connection or drive that compelled her to choose veterinary nursing as her vocation. Erin is intrigued by the process of diagnosing and treating pets. She especially enjoys forming long-term relationships with clients and their pets and finds client education very satisfying.

    Erin shares her home with her husband, Barry and her children. She has three brother cats, Wasabi, Tobiko and Mouse, that she rescued when they were only two days old and a French Bulldog named Ernie. When not at the clinic, Erin enjoys spending time with her animals and the people she cares about most. She also enjoys trying different ethnic foods and restaurants and knitting or crocheting gifts for friends and family.

  • Mandie
    Veterinary Technician

    Mandie joined our technician team here at CVC in 2017 but has been in the veterinary field since 2013. Her love for animals and knack for customer service made her a great addition to the team! Mandie loves the connection to the clients and the pets she gets while being a tech.

    When she's not here helping the doctors in rooms or in surgery she can be found at home spending quality time with her family, Saul and Gianna and her pets, Cici, Nugget and Macho. Mandie also loves to volunteer her time at her church.

  • Janice L
    Veterinary Technician

    Janice joined the CVC technician team in 2020, but had been in the veterinary field since 2018. She has had a love for animals since she was very young, she slowly started volunteering at shelters when she was able and fell in love even more.  She started working as a technician and never looked back!  Janice's passion for surgery, and desire to learn new things is what makes her a perfect fit for our team.

     

    When Janice is not working she enjoys spending time her dogs Olive and Randall either outside or snuggling up relaxing on the sofa.  She also loves traveling and seeing new places. 

  • Cece L.
    Technician

    Cece joined our team as a technician assistant in 2018. Her ability to calm nervous clients/patients and her compassion make her an asset to our team here at CVC.

    Cece started out in the field with the desire to learn something new. She attended the Midwest school of grooming and got a part time job working in a kennel. Her love of animals grew and so did her drive to continue to grow and learn in the veterinary field. She has since moved her way up and has been  in the field since 2012. She loves being able to give comfort and quality care to pets during what can be very scary or stressful situations.

    Cece is also very passionate about animal rescue. She is involved with multiple fundraisers and fosters when the opportunity arises. In her free time she can be found rocking out to music, enjoying 'oldies' movies or spending time with her husband and kids.

  • Michelle
    Kennel Technician

    Michelle joined our animal care team as a kennel technician in 2019. Her love for animals has always been constant but when she started working for a zoo in 2011, it sealed the deal. Caring for animals is her dream job.  Her vast experience working with zoos and local shelters make her a great asset to us here at CVC. 

    In her spare time you can find her sewing and doing embroidery on special items for birthdays and weddings or drinking her favorite iced coffee. Michelle is also involved with local shelters and volunteers her time visiting the cats and dogs.

  • Mariam
    Veterinary Receptionist

    Mariam joined our reception team in December 2012. She has worked in the veterinary field since 2007. Mariam has always had a great love for animals and grew up with cats and dogs. She could not imagine a house without a pet because they make wonderful companions.

    Mariam shares her home with her Husband and daughter, and their cat Stanley. In her free time Mariam loves to do yoga, go for walks, read and cook.

    Veterinary Receptionist

    Chloe joined the CVC Family in 2014 but has been in the veterinary field since 2009. Chloe is kind, compassionate and has a great understanding of veterinary medicine. Chloe also brings great knowledge of pet nutrition to our reception staff.

    Before Chloe joined our team here at CVC, she lived in Nevada and worked with wild life, birds, reptiles and even camels! In her free time she loves to paint, hike and garden. Chloe resides here in South Elgin with her 2 cats, Rello and Snowball and a dog named Pippin.

    Veterinary Receptionist


    Amanda joined the CVC reception team in 2023.  She comes with several years of experience in the veterinary field. Amanda has a love for animals since she was very young, as she was able she started to volunteer at rescues and that just made her fall in love that much more.  Amanda is always striving to make sure that all our patients and clients have the best experience possible; she greets everyone with a smile when they walk in the door and makes sure that all their questions have been answered before they leave.

    Amanda has a passion for helping adoptable animals their forever homes.
    Amanda shares her home with her 4 children. When she is not here she spends time sketching, reading a good book, or taking her kids to the park.

    Veterinary Technichian

    Renee joined the CVC technician team in 2023.  Renee started working in a doggie day care facility and soon realized that she wanted to venture into the medical aspect of animal care.  She attained a job as a technician and has not looked back.  Renee has a knack for “soothing the savage beast” and helping them relax when they are here at the clinic for an appointment.
    When she is not here at the clinic Renee can be found working out at the gym or hanging out with friends.

    Veterinary Receptionist

    Gwen joined the CVC reception team in 2022, but has 14 years of experience in the veterinary field. Gwen’s kind hearted personality along with a fantastic sense of humor helps even our most stressed patient and their owners feel at ease when they come for a visit.

    In her free time Gwen enjoys spending time with family and friends, bowling, reading, fishing, gardening, or taking her dog Nova on long walks.

    Veterinary Technichian

    Christina joined the CVC family in 2022 as a technician. Christina has been in the veterinary field just over 7 years. She worked many of those years at a zoo working with exotic animals. Christina is passionate about educating clients about proper care of animals, both exotic and domestic. 
    Christina shares her home with her husband and son as well as 2 dogs, Rueben and Rollo and Celeb her cat.  In her free time she can be found spending time with her son, hiking with her 2 pups, or horseback riding. Christina also enjoys watching a good fantasy series on television.

    Veterinary Technichian

    Nicole joined the CVC family as a technician in 2022.  She has been in the veterinary field for over 5 years. Nicole has had a love of animals since she was young and always knew she wanted to work with animals. Nicole is very passionate about client education and has a soft spot for our large breed dogs, especially German Shepards.

    In her spare time Nicole loves reading, traveling and spending time with her family.

    Veterinary Receptionist

     Marissa joined our reception team in August of 2021. She has been working in the veterinary field since 2019.  Marissa is kind and patient individual that is passionate about helping our clients and patients however she can to make their visit as smooth as possible.
    Marissa shares her home with her dog Luci. Marissa enjoys taking Luci on long walks enjoying the sunny weather and exploring new places.

  • Ashley E.
    Veterinary Receptionist

    Ashley joined the CVC reception team in 2021. She comes with 12 years of experience in the animal field.  Ashley started working at a doggie day care as a teenager and then moved into a reception position and has not looked back. 
     

    Ashley shares her husband and their two children, their three dogs, Oliver, Maeby, and Earl.  In her free time Ashley enjoys baking, gardening and taking walks with her family.
